BOKO HARAM VS ISLAM

A professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Ilorin, Yasir Quadri, at the weekend said Boko Haram, a radical Islamist insurgent group, is not an agent of Islam, but the handiwork of the destructive Nigerian politicians.

The don consequently acknowledged that if Nigeria would know peace, the Nigerian politicians should resolve to achieve their ambition, not through manipulation of religion, but by becoming nation builders.

He disclosed this at his inaugural lecture titled, All In The Name Of God, delivered at the university, noting that Boko Haram members “are not justifiably fighting in the name of Allah”.

"Nigerians need mutual understanding to move the country forward. Everybody is entitled to freedom guaranteed under section 38 of the 1999 Constitution just as everybody is free to propagate his/her religion either overtly or covertly on others".

Quadri noted that members of the Boko Haram group who have been extreme about religious intolerance are doing what offends both the Qur’an and constitution of the country. The provision of the constitution of the country on religion state is in line with that of the Qur'an”.

He said that the demands and mode of operation of Boko Haram are not Islamic, adding that the stand of the Nigerian 1999 Constitution “agrees totally to the view of the Qur'an on multi-religious community."
“Qur'an 10:99-100 makes it clear that it is the wish of Allah not to make everybody a Muslim. He has given everybody the choice to choose which religion he/she wants to adopt. Qur'an 2:256 was emphatic on the issue of freedom of religion and it reads: There is no compulsion in religion.
“Verily, the right path has become distinct from the wrong path... From these Quranic Verses it is clear that Boko Haram cannot claim to be an Islamic organisation. Neither can it claim to be guided by the Tradition of Prophet Muhammad”.

ISLAM: When there is a war, Women and children must not be touched. Talk less of when there is no war.                                                                                                                                     BOKO HARAM: We kill and kidnap men, women and children.
ISLAM: When there is a war, all non-Muslims that run into their places of worship or their homes will not be harmed. Talk less of when there is no war.
BOKO HARAM: We bomb non-Muslims in their places of worship. We also bomb Muslims in their places of worship and homes if we feel they are a threat to us.

SPORTS: Brazil's Neymar announces transfer to Barcelona

Brazil’s Neymar announced Saturday on his Instagram account that he is to join FC Barcelona, who have edged out their great Spanish rivals Real Madrid in a tussle for the young striker’s services.
“On Monday, I sign a contract with Barcelona. I want to thank the Santos fans for nine incredible years,” wrote the 21-year-old.
Santos had received offers for Neymar from both Barca and Real, according to Spanish newspaper El Pais, quoting the club’s vice-president. Barca confirmed the move on Sunday.
“FC Barcelona and Santos FC have agreed to terms for Neymar da Silva Junior. The Brazilian forward will don the Blaugrana strip for the next five seasons,” said a statement on the club’s website.
Despite his tender age, Neymar has been a first-team regular for Santos for the past four years, scoring 156 goals and providing 77 assists in 256 matches.
In 2011, he guided them to their first Copa Libertadores triumph since when Pele represented the club in the 1960s, and he has already established himself at international level, scoring 20 times in 32 appearances with Brazil.
“It’s a different moment for me, sad (bidding farewell) and happy (new challenges),” he wrote.
Neymar plays his last game for Santos on Sunday against rivals Flamengo, at the opening of this year’s Brazilian football season.
“I want the chance to enter the field one more time… and hear the fans cry out my name,” he wrote.
The young star, who often sports a Mohawk haircut, is a native of Sao Paulo. Youths ask barbers for “a Neymar” when they go for a haircut, and young women scream and chase after him as if he were a rock star.
Brazil lacks the megastars of yesteryear such as Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Robinho, and the country’s hopes for winning the World Cup in 2014 — to be held in Brazil — rest on the young prodigy’s shoulders.
Time magazine described Neymar in February as “the future Pele,” while the US magazine Sports Pro chose him for the second year running as the sports personality with most worldwide marketing potential, ahead of Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy.
Off the football pitch, Neymar’s face is omnipresent: he’s constantly being interviewed on TV, appears in scores of ads and on websites, and his personal life is feverishly covered by the celebrity press.
Fans are avid to find the latest news about Neymar and his young son, or the star’s latest girlfriend, in this case TV starlet Bruna Marquesina. Their courtship was announced at the latest Rio carnival.

Man Sentenced To Death For Strangling 2-month-old Baby

A Chinese man has been sentenced to death for strangling a two-month-old baby after stealing a vehicle with the infant inside, in a case that caused widespread outrage, state media said Monday.

Zhou Xijun, 48, "was sentenced to death and deprived of his political rights for life" for the murder, the official news agency Xinhua said.
Zhou stole an SUV parked at a roadside in the northeastern province of Jilin in March, strangling the baby boy and leaving him in the snow after finding him on the back seat, the report said.
He turned himself a day after police and the public launched huge searches for him and the baby. The killing provoked both angst and anger among China's vast population of Internet users.
The parents had left the child alone in the car for 10 minutes with the engine running before realising the vehicle had been stolen, the state-run Global Times daily reported in March.
All death penalty verdicts are subject to a review by the supreme court. China executes around 4,000 people every year, a 50 percent drop since 2007, says the Duihua Foundation, a US human rights group.

A WOMAN WHO GAVE BIRTH ON A WHEELCHAIR

:When it's time, it's TIME! A South Florida mom gave birth clutching a wheelchair on a sidewalk early Friday morning outside a Boca Raton hospital -- and Miami-based birth photographer Emily Robinson captured the incredible moment in unforgettable images.
"It was the first time I ever saw a mother be wheeled INTO the hospital holding her new baby," Robinson wrote on her blog. "It was the fastest, most incredible, beautiful, wild birth I’ve ever had the pleasure to document."
Robinson's client Amy Beth Cavaretta, who along with her husband, Joe, is a photojournalist for the South Florida Sun Sentinel, had told Robinson she experienced a fast birth with her first daughter and handled pain well. So Robinson figured it would be a good chance to follow a family from home to the hospital instead of meeting them inside.
"I did not know that I was going to have a baby on the sidewalk," Cavaretta laughed.
"When we pulled up to the hospital, there wasn't any sort of panic -- nobody thought the baby was going to come right then," Robinson said. "The midwife was out there waiting for us, coincidentally, and that's when Amy walked up to the curb and leaned into the pillar and said, 'The baby is coming out.'"
The new mom told The Huffington Post that midwife Laurie Ross-Berke held the baby's head between her legs while her husband ran for a wheelchair, then caught adorable little Sienna Grace as she met the world right there on the sidewalk.

Amanda Bynes Attacks Rihanna On Twitter

According to TMZ, Bynes posted a series of angry tweets about Rihanna's looks before promptly deleting them.
"Chris Brown beat you because you're not pretty enough," she tweeted. "No one wants to be your lover so you call everyone and their mother."
Rihanna shot back, "Ya see what happens when they cancel Intervention?"
Bynes responded again, "unlike your fugly faced self I don't do drugs! U need the intervention dog! I met your ugly face in person. U aren't pretty u know know!"
She deleted that tweet soon after too.
While it's unclear why Bynes lashed out against the singer, we can't say we agree with the assessment. Rihanna has been posting tons of Instagram pics-- like this one of her dressed up as Marilyn Monroe-- and we have to say, girl looks FIERCE.

Kanye West is reportedly not going to marry his pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian:

The 35-year-old rapper and the 32-year-old reality star will welcome their first child together this summer.
Star magazine reports the Kardashian empire is financially flagging at the moment. Apparently the reality television family is living in a “financial death spiral” and struggling to make ends meet due to reckless spending.
Kanye is said to be uninterested in jeopardizing his fortune for love.
“Kanye has real money. He won’t marry Kim because it would hurt his finances,” a source told Star.
It is said Kim pays top dollar for all of her luxuries.
Her opulent expenses add up quickly and money conscious Kanye wants to keep his bottom line high.
“Kim is a shopaholic! She spends $350 000 a month on her credit cards,” a source told the publication.
“She pays hundreds of thousands of dollars for designers to custom-make clothes for her, and she spent millions on Louis Vuitton handbags to match each outfit.”
Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner, manages the family and is largely credited for putting the Kardashians on the map.
It is believed there are plans in place to keep Kim in the green for a while after she gives birth.
“Kim and Kris are banking on a big payday for weight-loss endorsements, at least,” an insider said.
After battling in courts for two years Kim reached a divorce settlement with former husband Kris Humphries in April. She and the basketball player were married for only 72 days before Kim requested legal separation.
Kanye has yet to ask for Kim’s hand in marriage since the court’s official dissolution.

Angelina's Aunt Dies of Breast Cancer

•  Barely two weeks after Angelina Jolie announced that she had a preventive double mastectomy to avoid breast cancer, People.com reports that Jolie's aunt, Debbie Martin, has lost her battle with the disease and passed away on Sunday. She was 61.Martin was the sister of Jolie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who died in 2007 after a seven-year battle with ovarian cancer. Martin was hospitalized on Wednesday, and her husband Ronald Martin says that while Jolie was not able to be with her aunt when she passed, she had seen Martin many times since her diagnosis, adding, "Angelina has been sending her wishes. She and my wife texted each other. It was difficult for my wife, during the last few months, to communicate."Jolie is reportedly preparing to next have her ovaries surgically removed as a preventive measure, and Ronald tells People.com of her previous surgery, "Because of the BRCA gene in the maternal side of the family, Angelina did the smartest thing on earth. Bus Preacher Beaten To Coma In Lagos After Condoms Fall From Bible

A bus preacher was almost lynched on Saturday morning at Toyota Bus stop, in front of the popular Ladipo Spare parts market, when some condoms allegedly fell out of his bible as he preached the ‘Word of God’.
A source gathered that the self acclaimed Man of God was dragged out of the commercial bus and beaten into a pulp before he was rescued by some policemen.
According to information made available to our source, the Pastor had embarked on his journey fromApapa and proceeded to preach to the people on the bus, using very strong words like “If you wear trouser you’ll go to hell! The Devil invented Make up! Weave-on is from Marine Kingdom! If you have pre-marital sex you will burn in hell and your skin will peel!”
It was learnt that the people in the bus were so moved and some started falling under the anointing.
According to an eye witness, Mr. John Mbakogu, who was on his way to his shop at Ladipo, “People were just falling as he was laying hands. One man almost fell out of the bus under the influence of the Spirit. It was amazing until he raised his hands to cast the demons out of one girl, and 2 Durex condoms fell out”
“The angry men in the bus who had been having pangs of guilt due to the pastor’s preaching about sex suddenly got really angry and pounced on him, who all of a sudden started shouting, I also preach safe sex! Safe sex is good!”
However, Policemen had to be called to the scene to save the pastors life. So far 2 arrests have been made, and the Condoms have been kept as evidence.
