Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Nas & Timbaland In The Studio

Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Nas and Timbaland are just having a laugh in the studio. What about? We'll never know, because we're not invited to these casual meetings of the minds. Lucky for us, however, Roc Nation A&R man and photographer Lenny Santiago was there to snap a photo.
But all is not lost: We need your help in captioning this "new Rat Pack" photo. Let us know what you think caused the laugh in the comments. See our suggestions below the image.

Marrying The Game

It was anything but love at first sight when Tiffney Cambridge first met Jayceon Taylor. A soft spoken, straight laced 5th grade history teacher, Tiffney wanted nothing to do with the rough edged, uneducated young rapper pursuing her, and told him so.

Within five months that young rapper would have a new name, The Game, and a skyrocketing career as Dr. Dre’s new mentee and member of 50 Cent’s G Unit, but all the while, despite the accolades and newfound wealth, magazine covers and the top of the Billboard charts, Taylor never forgot the girl that turned him down. He redoubled his efforts, cleaned up his act, and finally convinced her to give him a chance. Two children and seven years later, Tiffney and The Game are about to take their fairy tale relationship to the next level: they’re getting married and we’re going along for the ride!
Marrying The Game premieres on Thursday 6 June at 7pm.

Omotola talks about her Time Magazine honour:

In April 2013, screen goddess Omotola Jalade Ekeinde (pictured above with Justin Timberlake) was honored as one of Time Magazine 100 Most Influential People in the World. According to Omotola, it's an achievement that will forever linger in her memory. She tells Encomium magazine:
"It's a great honour. Sometimes you really don't know your worth and people around you may just take you for granted. I was selected for a number of reasons. From what I was told, they watch a lot of my movies up there. The person who wrote my profile is actually the movie critic for Time magazine. He had been introduced to some of my movies. He also got to know about my other activities, including human rights activism and others. They also conducted opinion polls from those that follow what's going on in Nollywood. I think the opinion of the organizers is based on this. I wasn't the only person picked from Africa. There was another guy from Egypt but he's white and lives in the US. He is a blogger. I was the only black African honored and out of the 100 honorees, they only picked 20 of our portraits displayed in the Time Work of Fame, and my picture was there. Not only that, it was given the pride of place. One thin I noticed was that from the moment I stepped onto the red carpet, I was treated like a queen. I was on one of the best tables, sitting with US Vice President, Joe Biden and others. I think it was a good moment for Africa. It was one of the few moments I felt like Africa has arrived.

"Motherf--ker"saved his life. Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L JacksonApparently Samuel L. Jackson needs to say "motherf--ker" as much as audiences want him to. In a speech at last night's American Institute for Stuttering gala, Jackson revealed that the swear word wards off a stutter he has been battling since his childhood in Tennessee. Audiences may have thought that Jackson simply had an unusual affinity for using the word, but apparently "motherf--ker" saved his life.
When New York Magazine pressed Jackson to confirm the "stutter swear" anecdote from his speech, he claimed he still says "motherf--ker" every single day under his breath as a sort of daily affirmation.
"Motherf--ker" has a new meaning and that meaning is hope.

Rebel Wilson Graces Her First Magazine Cover

 Rebel Wilson Magazine Cover
Rebel Wilson has landed her first magazine cover and she's understandably pretty psyched about it. The "Pitch Perfect" star graces the cover of Glamour U.K.'s July 2013 issue, in a bubble bath, no less.
The 27-year-old actress, who will star on her own TV show this fall, is nude in a tub of strategically placed bubbles and decked out in diamonds for a very, well, glamorous look.
With her new show and several film projects in the works, we'll no doubt be seeing Wilson on many more magazines to come, but you never forget your first.

U.S. issues travel alert on Nigeria

President Goodluck Jonathan
The U.S. has issued a travel alert on Nigeria warning its citizens not to travel to Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states because of the state of emergency in the states.
President Goodluck Jonathan on May 14 declared a state of emergency in the three states to restore public order, safety and security due to the spate of terrorist activities in the area.

An updated statement released by the U.S. State Department dated June 3 said “the ability of the U.S. Mission in Nigeria to provide assistance to its citizens in those states remains severely limited’’.
It said the department had continued to recommend that citizens avoid all but essential travels to some states in the country due to the risk of kidnappings, robberies and other armed attacks.
The statement listed the states as Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto and Zamfara.
“The Department also warns against travel to the Gulf of Guinea because of the threat of piracy.
“Based on safety and security risk assessments, the Embassy maintains restrictions for travel by U.S. officials to all northern Nigerian states in addition to those listed above.
“Officials must receive advance clearance by the U.S. Mission for any travel deemed as mission-essentia,’’ the statement said.
The alert also cautioned U.S. citizens to be aware that extremists could expand their operations beyond northern Nigeria to the country’s middle and southern states.
It noted that the latest travel warning replaces the travel warning for Nigeria dated Dec. 21, 2012. (NAN)

Dangote to site $8bn refinery in Olokola

Indications emerged on Wednesday that the $8bn refinery proposed by Africa’s richest man and President, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, would be located at the Olokola Free Trade Zone, Ondo State.
A senior official of the company, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, told our correspondent that the refinery would be located in the OFTZ.
One of the factors considered for the location of the refinery, according to the source, is that it is the biggest deep seaport in the country and other big industries are located there; besides, Ondo is one of the oil producing states in the country.
The source added that stable crude oil supply was also a vital element in the choice of the location for the refinery because Chevron and a number of other oil producers had oil fields in the oil-rich region of the state.
On why Lagos was not chosen, industry analysts said though the state was a coastal state, Dangote would have to build pipelines to transfer crude from oil fields to the refinery, thereby incurring additional expenses.
The source explained that necessary approvals had been secured for the refinery, adding that the Dangote Group was just waiting for the necessary equipment with which to build the refinery to arrive.
Another source told our correspondent that Dangote, who was listed on Monday as the first African entrepreneur to lay claim to a $20bn fortune and one of the 25 richest men in the world, would put down $4bn of his personal fortune to build the refinery, while international financial institutions had raised the balance.
Dangote had in April announced plans to invest up to $8bn in building an oil refinery with capacity for around 400,000 barrels a day by late 2016.
The capacity, experts had said, would almost double Nigeria’s current refining strength.
This will really help not only Nigeria but sub-Saharan Africa. There has not been a new refinery for a long time in sub-Saharan Africa,” Dangote had told Reuters in a telephone interview.
Nigeria currently has the capacity to produce some 445,000 barrels per day in four refineries, which operate well below that owing to decades of mismanagement and corruption in Africa’s leading energy producer.
The country relies on subsidised imports for 80 per cent of its fuel needs.
Dangote said the country’s ability to import fuel would soon be challenged.
“In five years, when our population is over 200 million, we won’t have the infrastructure to receive the amount of fuel we use. It has to be done,” he said.
Past efforts to build refineries have often been delayed or cancelled, but analysts have said Dangote should be able to build a profitable Nigerian refinery, owing to his past successes in industry and his strong government connections.
Analysts have said previous attempts to get the refineries going were held back by vested interests such as fuel importers profiting from the status quo.
“The people who were supposed to invest in refineries, who understand the market, are benefiting from there being no refineries because of the fuel import business. Some are going to try to interfere,” Dangote said.
He said making a new refinery run at a profit would work even if the government failed to scrap the subsidised fuel price that has deterred others from investing.
“We’ve done our numbers and the numbers are okay,” he said.
Dangote, who spoke on the sidelines of the recent World Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town, South Africa, said he had secured $4.25bn loans from banks to build the refinery.
He said the loan was secured from “two offshore banks and some Nigerian banks.”
