Snoop Dogg's attempt at a quiet trip through Australia went up in smoke.
Firefighters swarmed the iconic rapper's room in a five-star Melbourne, Australia, hotel Friday morning after he triggered a fire alarm, the Melbourne Herald Sun reported.
"We were (at the hotel) for a different reason," a spokeswoman for the city's fire department said. "That was where our firefighters met Snoop."

The department wouldn't elaborate on exactly what type of smoke was emanating from the 42-year-old marijuana advocate's room at the hotel, the name of which was being withheld.

The responding team from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade may have needed to be hosed down after discovering the identity of the room's occupant.
"It was pretty funny," firefighter Trevor Bowen told the Australian Associated Press. "We had a brush with Mr. Snoop himself.

"He asked us for a photo because he said he always wanted to be a firefighter.
"It was an amazing chance encounter, which would probably be one of the highlights of my 26 years with the MFB."

But not everyone is smiling about Snoop Dogg's stay in the Land Down Under.
On Tuesday, the rapper posted pictures of himself on Instagram apparently smoking pot in the tony Palazzo Versace hotel in Australia's Gold Coast. Fired up political leaders immediately slammed the "stunt."
"Next time Mr. Broadus requests a visa to enter Australia he may regret this stunt," Immigration Minster Scott Morrison said, according to Australia's Courier Mail.
"Visa holders convicted of serious criminal offences can be and are deported from Australia. The Australian Government is prepared to take action where state police are able to make an arrest and secure a conviction."

Jay Z, Beyonce Top Billboard Power 100 List

Billboard Magazine Jay Z and Beyonce the most powerful couple in music.
Billboard
Who in the music industry did so better in the last year than this power couple?
Leveraging their star power to release new albums in unprecedented ways—Jay Z through Samsung and Beyoncé through iTunes—they instantly changed how the industry and fans thought about interacting with music. He gave his album away; she charged a premium price for hers. But they both used the element of surprise to restore the excitement that used to accompany a new release, before that impact was dulled by the endless thunder of carefully plotted promotion.
In short, they proved that content truly is king. Or, in this case, king and queen.

Katy Perry COVERS GQ Magazine

katy perry gq

Katy Perry channels the sexy pin-up models of yesteryear for her February GQ cover, and though her striped cutout swimsuit is plenty revealing, it's her candid new interview where the singer bares it all.
They say if you got it, flaunt it, and that's exactly what Katy Perry is doing on the cover of GQ magazine.
The "Unconditionally" singer poses in a daring one-piece bathing suit for the magazine's February issue, and discusses the very topics included in the Love! Sex! Madness! theme.
From losing her virginity at 16 to plastic surgery to her relationship with John Mayer, Perry doesn't hold anything back in the revealing interview. MTV News rounded up the most riveting moments from Perry's GQ interview.
Praying For Boobs
Growing up in Santa Barbara, California, Perry dreamed of two things: becoming a singer and being very well-endowed. Lucky for her, both wishes were granted. "I lay on my back one night and looked down at my feet, and I prayed to God. I said, 'God, will you please let me have boobs so big that I can't see my feet when I'm lying down?' " At age 11, "God answered my prayers," she told the mag.

"I had no clue they would fall into my armpits eventually."
Katy Is "Au Naturel"
Perry practices what she preaches. Known for inspirational songs like "Firework" and "Roar," the singer proudly revealed that she believes in her own message of self-empowerment. "I've never had any plastic surgery," she said. "Not a nose, not a chin, not a cheek, not a tit. So my messages of self-empowerment are truly coming from an au naturel product."

Not Going Up in Smoke
Katy Perry and Rihanna may be close friends, but they don't have everything in common, and one of those things is weed. Rihanna has made it no secret that she loves to puff every now and then (see her Instagram). And when her suite at November's American Music Awards was set up just a few feet from Perry's, the "Roar" singer and a GQ reporter recalled noticing a faint "cannabis sativa" smell.

"Everyone is high!" Perry declared with a giggle. She meant everyone else: "The weed — I'm not friends with it. ... I can't do that stuff. I'd be like in the corner: 'Are you trying to kill me?!' "
Question for the President
It seems like Perry has a budding relationship with President Obama. The pop star performed at a re-selection rally in Wisconsin back in 2012, and Perry told the magazine that she "might have won" the state for the democrat. Obama even called the pop star "a couple times" to show his gratitude. However, Perry's hoping to strengthen that friendship because she has a very important question to ask.

"I see everything through a spiritual lens. I believe in a lot of astrology. I believe in aliens," she said. "I look up into the stars and I imagine: How self-important are we to think that we are the only life-form? I mean, if my relationship with Obama gets any better, I'm going to ask him that question. It just hasn't been appropriate yet."
No Rush To The Altar
Perry has had her ups and downs in relationships. From losing her virginity at 16 in the front seat of a Volvo while listening to Jeff Buckley's album Grace to her tumultuous marriage to Russell Brand, which ended in divorce in 2012. But she's found love again with John Mayer, who she briefly parted ways with last year before rekindling their romance.

"I think that I needed to grow up," she revealed of the break. "I'm just having a wonderful experience with a wonderful guy. There's no rush."

Lagos State Government seek to ban smoking in public places

The Lagos State House of Assembly yesterday January 20th passed a bill seeking to make smoking in public places illegal in the state, with first offenders having options of paying a fine of N10,000, three months in jail or both. The bill which is waiting the approval of Gov. Fashola to be signed into law prohibits residents from smoking in places such as libraries, museum, public toilets, schools, hospital, day-care centres, public transportation, restaurants among others.
Lagos residents who break this new law repeatedly would either be sent to prison for 6 months or pay a fine of N50,000, while owners of public places who encourage the breaking of this law would pay a fine of N100,000 or be sent to jail for six months.
The bill also seeks to punish anyone who smokes in front of a child with a fine of N15,000 or six months imprisonment. The bill also directs corporate organizations to place the 'No Smoking' sign in their premises. Companies who default would pay a fine of N250,000.
The Bill when passed into law would be supervised by the Lagos Environmental Protection Agency.

President Jonathan-"Nigeria will start exporting cars soon"

President Jonathan said with the new National Automotive Industry Policy introduced by his administration, the country will soon be exporting cars to other countries. He said this while speaking with a delegation of business owners from Anambra State led by the State governor, Peter Obi, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
"If any country will be great, we must industrialize. If Nigeria must be a great country, we must industrialize. To this end, we will continue to encourage industrialists in Anambra. We are totally committed to creating jobs. Nigeria is a country with huge population of youths. If jobs are not created, there will be crisis. The housing, agriculture and power sectors are also receiving attention. In the next few years, Nigeria will begin to export cars to other countries. We are encouraging government to support local manufacturers”President Jonathan said.
The National Automotive Policy seeks to address the issue of low-grade cars being dumped in Nigeria as well as create mass employment and increase human capacity in automotive technology.
