Nicki Minaj sued for $30m over wigs

A former hair stylist for Nicki Minaj is suing the star for $30 million (£18m), accusing her of selling wigs based on his designs without permission.
Terrence Davidson began working for the rapper in 2010, creating multiple wigs for high-profile events and her Super Bass music video.
Davidson claims he had previously discussed a joint business venture with Minaj to launch a line of wigs.
Representatives for Minaj have yet to comment on the legal action.
 
Davidson says the star is now copying his wig designs and selling them online.
According to legal papers filed in Atlanta, the hair stylist says he also turned down a contract for a reality TV show on the advice of one of Minaj’s representatives, with the promise of creating his own reality show with the star about being a celebrity wig stylist.
But after months passed in 2012, he claims the rapper and her team “took active steps to isolate [him] and preclude him from the notoriety he deserved for his wig designs”.
Davidson – whose celebrity clients also include singers Patti LaBelle and Jennifer Hudson – stopped working as Minaj’s stylist in early 2013, citing creative differences.
Christopher Chestnut, a lawyer for the hair stylist, said his client’s wigs “significantly contributed” to Minaj’s notoriety and helped her rise to fame.
 
He said the star “took a number of his popular wig designs, without his consent, and used them to start her own wig line”, resulting in at least $30m in losses.
“Her lawyers may complicate it, but we don’t need to get into intellectual-property law. “This is basic American morality. Nicki Minaj lied to this man and cheated him,” he said.

Kano Emirate’s family celebrate CBN governor Sanusi’s suspension

ChannelsTV reports that members of the Kano emirate called Dabo Family Women Association gathered today to celebrate the suspension of the CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido.

Addressing a news conference at the Emir’s palace on Saturday, a family member, Hajia Binta Sanusi, said that the suspension was “an honour done to their son who served his country truthfully and was later rewarded with mischievous allegations”.The women, comprising mothers, sisters and in-laws of the suspended apex bank governor, seemed happy even when some Nigerians have condemned the suspension.They said there was no cause for alarm, as Sanusi had proved to be trust worthy, having transformed the Nigerian economy in five years.

Heidi Klum And Seal Are Not Getting Back Together

The German supermodel, 40, and the 51-year-old singer were married for seven years before announcing their separation in January 2012. During the course of their marriage, Seal adopted Klum's daughter Leni, and together they had three more children: sons Henry and Johan and daughter Lou.
"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate," the estranged couple said in a joint statement at the time of the split.

President Jonathan suspends CBN governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi

President Jonathan has suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and has appointed an acting Governor, Dr Sarah Alade, the most senior Deputy Governor of the CBN. This was made known in a State House Press Statement released this morning.

Having taken special notice of reports of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and other investigating bodies, which indicate clearly that Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s tenure has been characterized by various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct which are inconsistent with the administration’s vision of a Central Bank propelled by the core values of focused economic management, prudence, transparency and financial discipline;

Being also deeply concerned about far-reaching irregularities under Mallam Sanusi’s watch which have distracted the Central Bank away from the pursuit and achievement of its statutory mandate; and  

Acting Governor, Dr Sarah Alade

Being determined to urgently re-position the Central Bank of Nigeria for greater efficiency, respect for due process and accountability, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has ordered the immediate suspension of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from the Office of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.  

President Jonathan has further ordered that Mallam Sanusi should hand over to the most senior Deputy Governor of the CBN, Dr Sarah Alade who will serve as Acting Governor until the conclusion of on-going investigations into breaches of enabling laws, due process and mandate of  the CBN. The President expects that as Acting Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Alade will focus on the core mandate of the Bank and conduct its affairs with greater professionalism, prudence and propriety to restore domestic and international confidence in the country’s apex bank.

The Federal Government of Nigeria reassures all stakeholders in Nigeria’s financial and monetary system that this decision has been taken in absolute good faith, in the overall interest of the Nigerian economy and in accordance with our laws and due process.

President Jonathan picks Zenith Bank MD as new CBN Governor

 

President Jonathan has picked the current Managing Director of Zenith Bank Godwin Emefiele to replace Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. His name has been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation. 

Bayo Adelabu, the current Executive Director at First Bank as Deputy Governor of CBN, replacing Tunde Lemo.

Sanusi was removed just a few months to the end of his tenure. His tenure was supposed to end in June 2014. Sanusi said he will challenge the decision to suspend him but will not go back to the job.

Woman gives birth to stone in Yola

Amina Bello, 25-year old woman in Yolde  Pate in Yola South LGA of Adamawa State, on Tuesday, delivered a sizable stone. Bello narrated her story at the opening ceremony of  Vesico vaginal fistula (VVF) free medical treatment in Yola Specialists Hospital. Bello, who is also a VVF patient, told the gathering that after four years pregnancy, she finally delivered a sizable stone last year.

"I was holding a pregnancy for the duration of four years, which I bitterly suffered because of the heavy weight of what is contained in the stomach,” she said. “It was last year around June, I started feeling labour and I was in that condition for three days and finally I delivered a stone.

She said that it was after the delivery she now discovered that she was affected with VVF. Responding, Dr Sunday Lengmang, Director VVF Centre, Jos, confirmed that giving birth to a stone or any object was possible.

Lengmang was in Yola to attain to the VVF patients for the duration of one week .
“Stones and other solid objects can form in a human body in different cases,” he said. “Stones can form in a gall bladder, urinary  bladder and other several  parts of urinary tracks.” The medical expert explained that why VVF  patients were prone to giving birth to stones or any solid object was because they drink less water to reduce urine leakage. He said as a result of taking less water their urine become concentrated.
“Inside urine, there is salt, sodium and chlorine, and when the urine becomes concentrated, the salt becomes crystallised and finally forms itself and later ends up as stone,” he said.
Lengmang confirmed that three VVF patients had stones in their placentas and they would undergo surgery.
He said the size of the stones uncovered from the three women was six by seven and three by four centimetres. Lengmang advised VVF patients to drink more water instead of taking less to prevent them from risk of having stones.
