- Asiana Airlines Flight 214 traveling from Seoul, South Korea, to San Francisco with 291 passengers and 16 crew members on board crashed on its final approach toward the city's main airport, killing two passengers and leaving 182 others injured. The Boeing 777 was pictured on the runway with its tail snapped off (right). A huge blaze ripped through the aircraft on impact (left) but miraculously dozens of passengers were able to evacuate on emergency slides. Survivors of the tragedy (right) described the final moments of the flight, saying that the plane appeared to have been tilted at an odd angle and traveling too fast and too low.
